Hampshire Wedding Photographer
I’m Dan Thomas, a professional Hampshire Wedding Photographer.
I originally started out photographing weddings in Basingstoke but now my work takes me across the whole of the county, including Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, Andover and Farnborough
Your dream Hampshire wedding day awaits when you combine the best wedding venue for you and find a photographer you love. It’s no secret that Hampshire is the place for weddings in the South-East of England, with stunning scenery whether you are coming from another county to get married in Hampshire or if you already live here. Hampshire is spoiled for choice when it comes to wedding venues. Whether it is the quaint feeling of a barn venue like The Clock Barn and Pitt Hall Barn or more of a grand feel at a stately home such as The Elvetham and Farnham Castle it’s a good idea to start looking for your Hampshire wedding photographer sooner rather than later as I tend to get booked up between 12 and 18 months in advance. As an experienced wedding photographer, I would love to hear from you as you continue to plan your ideal wedding day in Hampshire.
The Value of Beautiful Wedding Photography
Your beautiful love story deserves to be told through gorgeous wedding photographs. While you’re busy having fun on your wedding day, your wedding photographer should be hard at work behind the scenes, capturing photos that match your style. Just like hiring a baby photographer for the birth of a new arrival or a corporate portrait photographer for a new business launch, it simply makes sense to bring in a photography expert who knows a lot about weddings.
Hampshire Wedding Venues
It certainly helps to have a Hampshire wedding photographer who has worked weddings throughout the county because not only can your wedding photographer help you understand your wedding photo packages, but they may also have some great recommendations for venues. Being on the same page as your photographer in terms of what you want from your wedding can open up the discussion on where to get married and where to snap the best images. Cain Manor just north of Liphook or Froyle Park are ideal wedding venues, with couples and their guests alike appreciating the historic scenery. Silchester Farm just outside Basingstoke and Rhinefield House Hotel in Brockenhurst are some other picture-perfect wedding venues that make for one pretty epic wedding gallery. Wherever you get married, any photographer you choose to document your wedding story should be able to work with your wedding venue to get the best angles for breathtaking wedding photography.
Discover Your Wedding Photography Style
You have probably been waiting years to plan your wedding (possibly with quite a lot of ideas already in mind before you even got engaged). So many people dream of this day, and it only makes sense that you want incredible wedding images to remember the day once it’s all over. One of the most important things to be aware of when choosing your wedding photographer is to be aware of their style of photography. There are lots of different styles and photographers usually have one main style with some characteristics of others. The four main styles are listed below:
- Natural – This is my style of photography. It captures your wedding day unposed and as it happens. It is often referred to as fly on the wall or documentary. I also include group shots and striking bride and groom portraits to compliment the natural nature of the rest of the day
- Traditional – This contrasts to the natural approach. The wedding photographer shoots most photos at eye level with classic poses of the bridal party and the families. Most photos are posed.
- Dramatic – Dark tones and intense moods are captured on camera by an experienced wedding photographer who focuses on shadows and dynamic lighting.
- Fine art – Weddings with fine art photography have light and airy images with bright colours for a film-inspired look.
How to Choose Your Wedding Photographer
Juggling your job and family while also planning a wedding can be a lot, but organising a proper photographer takes some of that stress off your shoulders. Knowing that your photos are sorted allows you to focus on all the other things that come with weddings, such as the food, drinks and flowers. Wedding photographers are a wonderful resource for bringing your ideal wedding to life, especially when you focus on a few key factors with your photographer. Professionalism is first and foremost. While technically you could hire a family member or friend to snap pictures, or just rely on guests’ phone snaps, you’re not going to get nearly as high-quality photographs as you may want for your wedding and it’s also unfair to put that pressure on your guests as they should be there to just enjoy your wedding. You only have this day once, and you want to make sure it’s captured the right way. Wedding photography should be seen as an investment. After all, most people are happy to pay £1000 for a phone over a 2 year contract so £1000 for wedding photographs over 50+ years of marriage is an absolute bargain.
In addition to hiring a knowledgeable wedding photographer who understands and respects your wishes, you also need to make a list of priority shots you must have. If you want the majority of images to be of the two of you, but you absolutely want at least a few of you and your parents with childhood friends, then don’t be afraid to say so. The best wedding photographers do this without asking, but it’s never a bad idea to be upfront and honest about your expectations. A few conversations about the expectations for your wedding photographer and what you will get for the price you pay goes a long way. I always get my couples to list a few shots that they want so that they know that what is important to them is captured professionally.
Your Wedding Photography Gallery
Hopefully, you get everything you’ve ever wanted with your wedding day, from the dinner menu to the people on the guest list. All of the big moments, as well as the smaller yet still significant details, can be captured on camera for a truly memorable wedding gallery. Pictures from your wedding will make great gifts for your significant other and your family members, as well as tokens of appreciation for others who helped bring your magical celebration to life. After all, many couples reflect on their wedding and say investing in a wedding photographer was money well spent for both them and their loved ones.
Hiring a Professional Wedding Photographer
I am an experienced wedding photographer who is comfortable working with families and people all over Hampshire and the rest of the UK. With some captivating historic venues across the region, renowned wedding photographers should have some fairly detailed portfolios and connections in the wedding industry. The more experience they have, the higher your chances are of receiving the spectacular wedding images you want and deserve.
